History of Chakshu Chikitsa Sewa Samiti
BACKGROUND AND MILESTONES:
Establishment: – The journey has seen many milestones and more to be surpassed in future. The work of Eye Care in Jodhpur was initiated in 1957. The mission was started with organizing free Eye-relief medical camps under the patronage of Sant Paramanand Blind Relief Mission (Delhi). The primary aim was to provide the quality eye care services to all inhabitants and to cater the growing public demand of Jodhpur region. Now, we are the pioneer and best amongst the foremost providers of eye care in Jodhpur.
Constitution of the Committee:– In 1961, Shri Pukhrajji Ambani, established the Chakshu Dan Seva Samiti in collaboration with the volunteers to continue and maintain this social work for permanent in the town. Unfortunately, in 1962, Mr. Pukhrajajji Ambani died accidentally. After that Chakshu Medical Services Committee was established, this is still running with latest research and technology.
Establishment of Dispensary:- In 1968, organization of Netra Chikitsa Center took place in the heart of Jodhpur city where a permanent medical system was started for thousands Eyes’ patients.
Registration of the Committee and State Recognition:– In 1970, the Committee was registered by the Rajasthan Government under the Rajasthan Institution Act No. 12 / 70-71 and related to the Department of Medical.
Construction of the hospital building:- On June 20, 1978, a foundation stone of the Netra Hospital was laid for the purpose of construction of the eye hospital building on the private land in Kesar Vadi. The construction work was completed in June 27, 1979. The hospital was having a capacity of 50 beds and since then eye care services are continued and become popular by the name “Chandi Hall Eye Hospital” in Jodhpur region.
Equipments:- The hospitals are furnished with latest equipments and tools required for modern diagnosis and eye care treatments.
Dedicated Eye Expert:- The eye care units had a long list of very senior and experienced doctors, who have served time to time to this hospital during last 60 years, gave a very popular brand name “Chandi Hall Eye Hospital” in whole Jodhpur region by doing very very hard and devoted work. It is very proud to state that more than 30 Doctors specialized in ophthalmology were associated to this hospital. Among them most prominent doctors were Dr. N.C. Desai, Dr. Kalyan Mal Lodha, Dr. M.L. Chopra, Dr. Ratan Purohit. Dr. Surendera Mathur and Dr. Gulam Ali Kamdar. Presently, all the ophthalmologists are very well trained in conducting sort of surgical work, in dealing all kinds of eye complexities and their correct diagnosis. The lens implants are also been done without any stitching.
